S&C WLC perform exceptionally at British Championship
11/05/2014 00:59At the British Championship held at the Richo Arena, Coventry (10th and 11th May 2014), Sutton & Epsom WLC athletes entered some phenomenal performances.
Claire Brougham, in her first British Championship and after only 6 months of training, snatch 50kg and clean and jerked a PB of 68kg for a total of 108kg. This placed Claire 9th in Britain in the 58kg category.
In the 63kg class, Samantha Balchin recorded PBs in the snatch, clean and jerk and, thus, also total with 67kg, 76kg and 143kg respectively. The English championships bronze medalist placed 5th in Britain in a highly competitive category which also featured 4 girls who will compete in the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Also competing at his first British Champs, Alvin Ossai entered a phenomenal performance, snatching a PB of 120kg and cleaning and jerking 135kg for a PB total of 255kg, placing him 5th in Britain.
Last but certainly not least, Evelyn Stevenson, a former two time English Champion, took the Gold medal in the 75kg class for her first British Championship.
